Account and security
Your name, password, sign-in code, passkeys and Google sign-in.
Your name
Under “Account” → “Name”, you set how others see you: your family on your recipes, groups and on the family page, others on recipes, groups and lists you share by link and on their lists you add to through a link.
Leave it empty to show no name: your family then sees your e-mail address, and others see no name.
Change your password
- Open “Account” in the menu behind the person icon.
- Under “Password”, enter your current password and the new one twice.
- Press “Change password”.
- Passwords need 8 to 200 characters and can't contain < or >.
- A new password signs you out on all other devices; this one stays signed in.
- Accounts created with Google have no password at first. Set one here with “Set password”, no current password needed.
The sign-in code
When you sign in with your password, Greezy checks that it is really you: it e-mails you a six-digit code, or asks for your passkey if you added one. Someone who knows your password still can't get in.
- A code works for 10 minutes, and once.
- After five wrong tries, ask for a new code.
- Greezy sends a new code once a minute at most; the previous one keeps working meanwhile.
- Signing in with Google, signing up and choosing a new password through “Forgot password?” need no code.
- Got a code you didn't ask for? Someone knows your password: change it.
Passkeys
A passkey replaces the e-mailed code: you confirm the sign-in with your fingerprint, face or screen lock. Your phone, computer or password manager keeps it.
- Open “Account” and find “Passkeys”.
- Give it a name you'll recognize, e.g. “iPhone”, and press “Add passkey”.
- Confirm with your fingerprint, face or screen lock.
- Passkeys confirm sign-ins with your password, so your account needs one.
- A passkey works only on the website it was made on, greezy.app.
- You can add up to 10 passkeys; the bin next to one removes it.
- Your passkey is on another device? On the sign-in page, choose “No passkey at hand? Get a code by e-mail”.
Sign in with Google
Accounts created with Google sign in with the Google button. To sign into an account you created with a password with Google too, link it under “Account” → “Google sign-in”.
Only the Google account you linked signs in; one with the same e-mail address isn't enough. To unlink Google, your account needs a password, or you couldn't sign in anymore.
- Admins can turn off signing in with Google. Then everyone signs in with their password; accounts with Google only choose one with “Forgot password?” on the sign-in page.
- No Google account? You can create one with the e-mail address you have; it needs no Gmail address.
Sign out
Open the menu behind the person icon and choose “Sign Out”. On a computer others use, sign out when you are done.
Delete your account
You can't delete your account yourself yet: ask an admin of Greezy, e.g. through the contact in the “Imprint”, linked at the bottom of every page. Deleting it removes your recipes, recipe groups and shopping lists, also for your family, as well as your shop logins, passkeys and API tokens. Items you added to others' lists stay there, without your name.
