AI assistants

Let Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI assistants read and add recipes and lists for you.

What they can do

AI assistants connect to Greezy through its MCP server, a common way for assistants to use other apps. They can read your and your family's recipes, recipe groups and shopping lists. If you allow it, they also add recipes, groups and lists, change recipes, and change and delete shopping lists. They never delete recipes, nor change or delete recipe groups.

Apps that sign in themselves

  1. Open “API tokens” in the menu behind the person icon and copy the “MCP server URL”.
  2. In the AI app, add it as a new connector or custom app.
  3. The app opens Greezy: sign in, check the app's name and where it sends you back, pick what it may do and press “Allow”.
Good to know
  • Only allow apps you are connecting yourself right now; “Don't allow” sends the app away.
  • The app then shows on the API tokens page as a connected app.

Connect Claude

  1. In Claude, on claude.ai or in its desktop app, open “Customize”, then “Connectors”, and choose “Add custom connector” under “+ Add”.
  2. Enter “Greezy” as the name, paste the “MCP server URL” and add the connector.
  3. Claude opens Greezy: sign in, choose what Claude may do and press “Allow”.
  4. In a chat, turn Greezy on under “+” → “Connectors”, and ask for what you need, e.g. “Put my lasagne on a new shopping list”.
Good to know
  • Claude's free plan allows one custom connector. Once added, it works in Claude's phone app too.
  • These are Claude's menus as of October 2026; they may change.

ChatGPT, Gemini and others

  • ChatGPT: on chatgpt.com, open “Plugins”, press “+” and add a custom MCP server with the server URL and OAuth to sign in. Which plans may do this changes; OpenAI's help says.
  • Gemini: so far, Google offers custom apps only to adults in the US.
  • Claude Code and other tools for developers take a token instead (see below).
Good to know
  • As of October 2026; the apps rename these menus often.

Apps that need a token

  1. Open “API tokens”. Under the new token, give it a name, choose “Read only” or “Read and edit” and when it expires (“Expires”).
  2. Press “Create token”.
  3. Copy the token with “Copy” right away: Greezy shows it only once. For Claude Code, copy the ready-made command below it.
  4. Put the token into the app's settings, then press “Done”.
Good to know
  • Treat a token like a password: whoever has it uses your Greezy.

Disconnect an assistant

“Revoke” on the API tokens page cuts an app or token off right away. Both keep working when you change your password, so revoke what you no longer use. You can have 20 tokens and connected apps.
